Work Pieces

Just discovered that 1st part to the PP, the actual project, (and in my case the research essay) is to be part of the analysis in the 2nd reflectiony process part. This means as I complete the first part i can build the 2nd part around it. However, this also means it is tougher for me to fit it all in the word count.

Timeline

I will conduct the very important interviews before the holiday begins on 19th December. The first interviewee is a young man who grew up as a small boy in the midst of the Soviet Union, the second is an Ex-Communist Party Member who is very old and actively participated in the actions I am interested to hear and write about. I have checked to ensure that both interviewees will happily and willingly talk to me about these matters.

All other internet research is finalizing so that I can print it and begin writing a draft in Pakistan during the holiday.

After some inquiries, it seems that doing a research paper as the final product is perfectly fine.

Even Better Update ---- (as a GOAL)

" The Change of Censorship in Ukraine from both Soviet Union Times and Now "

I will show what changes occurred and why, how this affected people, and how society changed because of this.

H1N1

The school closure has seriously slowed down progress due to the excessive amount of work handed out. :(

Thursday 19 November 2009

Major Update

I have revised the research available and have decided to narrow down the project to just the 'traditional' censorship. This means the censorship found in countries and censorship issued by the government. This is NOT the censorship of age ratings and media. The interviews will contribute wonderfully to this. :)

End Product Ideas

The research compiled may go into a pamphlet (?) , or digital presentation outlining the main points from the research paper.
The stall at the exhibition should have this pamphlet or presentation accessible to the stall visitors and I should compile videos to play on my laptop showcasing different forms of censorship, and playing a slideshow of games and movies all with different age ratings to articulate how censorship changes form one stage to another.

Censorship Expanse

I still want to cover all main areas of censorship and am not keen on limiting what areas to cover.

Supervisor Confirmation

I have just found out that Mr. Cord Peters is my project supervisor...

Research Initialization

My research and source archive will begin being built this weekend, since I have recently purchased the official microsoft word 2k7 and will now be able to properly document the sites and sources I use.

Thursday 3 September 2009

Confirmation of Human Sources

I have inquired ahead of time to be better prepared, and am 99.9% certain that someone who grew up as a child during Soviet times and an ex-communist party member will be willing to answer my questions on censorship!

AOI Update

I have confirmed that Human Ingenuity will be my main focus as opposed to Social Education. Approaches To Learning aspects will be implemented in any case.

Proposal Sheet Questionnaire

Name:
Shaiyan Ahmed Shaikh

Proposed Title of Project:
Censorship

Broad outline of your project / What is the purpose of the project?:
This project will explore all aspects of censorship. This includes a range from types of media such as games and movies to even bigger scales such as filtering news for a certain country. The ideas will cover more serious tones such as controlled viewing of certain information nation wide, to the more common aspect of age ratings and target audiences in media. The project will show the evolution of censorship and its history, moving onto how it has changed and finishing with the status of censorship today. The main purpose in mind is displaying the theory and thought process put into censoring different things and the effects on the people who issue it and also the people who are given it. (More ideas later in the project).

What do you expect to have completed by the end of the project?:
The primary form of the project will be a research essay.

What resources will you need?:
-Internet archives and pages.
-First party interview candidates.
-Games and movies in my possession.
-Microsoft Word

What study skills will you use to complete the project? What other skills will you have to learn/develop so that you can complete the project?
Extensive research and information only available from people who experienced it first hand, and my own personal background skills in writing and sorting information.

Which area of interaction will it focus on? /Why is this area fundamental to your project?/How will you explore the area of interaction within the project?:
Currently the two areas of interaction I am looking at are human ingenuity and social education.
Human ingenuity because it is something artificially made humans and acts as a brace on different media, and social education because for specific groups in certain environments the education and teachings may differ greatly to do with what is censored and not. Additionally the approaches to learning component will be covered during the making of the project.

How will you display the project at the personal project exhibition?:
I already have a vague image of what my exhibition part will look like. At this moment, I believe that I will have my laptop playing a compilation of video showcasing the nature of censored television from some countries I will discuss. I am undecided if I will recreate some of these clips by myself. Moreover, I will give viewers a short oral presentation on the facts and ideas I have researched with the aid of a small flip-chart with a collection of images I have chosen within. Behind me I will have various posters and items representing the diverse aspects of censorship.
